Service Description

Taught by an Oxford-educated native German tutor with over 27 years of teaching experience and a track record of 95% grade A* results, this intensive course teaches students the exact tools needed to write top-grade essays. The course is suitable for all exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas). The course can be attended in person at our Hampstead office and online. Each course includes: ✔ Key Themes and Interpretations We analyse the most important themes likely to appear in exam questions. For example: Good Bye, Lenin! • Ostalgie (nostalgia for the GDR) • truth vs illusion • family relationships • identity after reunification Students learn how to turn these themes into convincing arguments. ✔ Essay Structure Training Students learn how to structure essays clearly and logically: • writing a strong introduction • developing analytical paragraphs • using evidence effectively • producing a concise conclusion We focus on the structure examiners expect for A-level Paper 2 essays. ✔ Exam Question Practice We practise responding to real past-paper questions, such as: • Inwieweit nutzt der Regisseur Humor, um seine Botschaften zu vermitteln? • Ist Good Bye, Lenin! eher eine Komödie oder eine Tragödie? • Wie wichtig ist die Beziehung zwischen Alex und Christiane? Students learn to: • interpret questions correctly • develop a clear argument • write analytical German under exam conditions. ✔ High-Level Essay Language Students receive a toolkit of advanced essay phrases that dramatically improve writing quality. For example: • Es lässt sich argumentieren, dass … • Ein zentrales Motiv des Films ist … • Dies wird besonders deutlich, wenn … • Der Regisseur verdeutlicht dies durch … Using these phrases helps students demonstrate linguistic sophistication, which examiners reward. ✔ Character and Scene Analysis We analyse the most important characters and scenes. Each course focuses on one text or film, allowing students to revise in depth.
