GCSE German Revision Course (Y11)

Service Description

Our intensive Year 11 GCSE German Summer Revision Course is designed to give students a significant head start before they return to school for their final GCSE year. The course consolidates the most important material from previous years, addresses common gaps in grammar and vocabulary, and introduces the skills and exam techniques students will need to work towards the highest possible grade in their GCSE German exam. Taught by Andrea, an experienced native German tutor, the course combines systematic language revision with focused practice across all four skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Rather than simply revisiting topics students have already encountered at school, lessons focus on helping them use German more accurately, confidently and independently – particularly when faced with the more demanding tasks they will encounter in Year 11. Grammar and Accuracy A strong command of grammar is essential for achieving the higher GCSE grades. We will revise and practise key areas including: German tenses and choosing the correct tense Word order and German syntax The four cases Prepositions and case usage Students will develop practical strategies for approaching GCSE-style listening and reading tasks, including how to identify key information, deal with unfamiliar vocabulary and avoid common exam pitfalls. Writing and Exam Technique Students will learn how to produce more accurate and sophisticated written German essays. We will work on planning answers, extending ideas, using a wider range of vocabulary and grammatical structures, and understanding what examiners are looking for at the higher grade boundaries. Speaking Preparation The course provides focused preparation for the GCSE speaking examination. Students will practise the different elements of the speaking assessment, including role plays, speaking cards and general conversation, while developing the confidence and spontaneity needed to respond effectively under exam conditions. Mock speaking practice will be incorporated throughout the course. By the end of the course, students should return to school with a stronger grammatical foundation, greater confidence across all four skills and a much clearer understanding of how to prepare effectively for their GCSE German examinations. All course materials are included, and recordings of every Zoom session will be provided, allowing students to revisit lessons during Year 11.
