I'm Jens Olesen, the founder and director of Olesen Tuition, one of the UK's leading German language schools. How do online A-level German lessons work?
Online A-level German lessons are delivered via Zoom in a live, interactive format. Lessons include targeted grammar instruction, structured essay practice, exam technique training, and oral exam preparation. All materials are shared digitally, and sessions are tailored to the student’s specific exam board and needs.

 

Do you tutor both AQA and Edexcel A-level German?
Yes, we offer tuition for both AQA and Edexcel A-level German. We are familiar with the differences in exam structure, assessment objectives, and set texts. Lessons are adjusted accordingly to help students meet their specific board’s requirements.

Do you prepare students for International A-level German?

Yes, we offer International A-level German tuition and have many years of experience preparing students for this qualification. We have successfully taught numerous private students as well as learners from a prestigious Swiss private school, helping them achieve top grades through tailored, exam-focused instruction. Whether you are studying for the Edexcel or Cambridge International A-level German exam, our expert support ensures you are fully prepared for all components.

 

What if my school doesn’t offer A-level German?
You can still study A-level German independently with private tuition. We provide comprehensive support for self-taught or external candidates, including structured teaching, past paper practice, and guidance concerning exam boards . You would register as a private candidate at an exam centre.

 

Can you help with A-level German retakes?
Absolutely. Many of our students are retaking A-level German to improve their grades. We focus on identifying past weaknesses, rebuilding grammar and vocabulary knowledge, and refining exam techniques to maximise marks the second time around.

 

How long does it take to improve from a C to an A or A?*
This depends on your starting point and how often you study. Most students see significant improvement within 4–6 months of regular tuition and independent revision. For a Grade C student aiming for an A, weekly lessons combined with focused grammar and essay writing practice can make a major difference.

 

Do you offer trial lessons?
Yes, trial lessons are available so you can experience our teaching style and decide whether it suits your needs. Trials are typically one hour and cover the same structured material as a full lesson.

 

Are lessons one-to-one or in groups?
We offer both. Private one-to-one lessons provide tailored support, while our small group A-level German classes (with a maximum of 8 students) offer structured progression and peer interaction. Many students combine both for the best results.

 

When do your weekly A-level German classes run?
Our weekly A-level German classes run during term time from September to May, with revision intensives in July and August. Classes are available for both Year 12 and Year 13 students, including those preparing for exams or oral assessments.
